Special one-day intensive seminar on the Self-Consciousness section of G.W.F. Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit. We will be examining the first portion of it, leading into the famous "Master-Slave dialectic", and then looking at selected interpretations of that. After that, we will return to Hegel's text and discuss his treatments of Stoicism, Skepticism, and what he calls the "Unhappy Consciousness", as well as later discussions of recognition in the Phenomenology
